Tin, Sheet Iron, and Cornice Workers’ International Association becomes the Amalgamated Sheet Metal Worker’s International Association (IA)

Sheet Metal Workers Local 9 was Charted

Name changed to Sheet Metal Workers’ International Association (SMWIA)

Members of Local Union #9 employed at Ralston Purina Feed Mill in Denver Colorado

SMWIA and the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA) negotiate the Standard Form of Union Agreement (SFUA) and establish the National Joint Apprenticeship Committee.

SMWIA becomes first union to offer its members accident insurance, protecting members at work and at home in cases of accidental death.

National Pension Fund established for SMWIA members in construction and production occupations.

"Generations" Sculpture

Joseph A. Kankel, of Longmont, CO, created the "Generations" sculpture depicts 3 generations of Sheet Metal Workers as they pass down their knowledge of the trade from Journeyman to Apprentice.

Currently on display at the Sheet Metal Workers Pension Fund Headquarters in Alexandria, VA.
